In regard to the treatment and interrogation of suspected terrorists or criminals, is torture ever justified? Are these the actions of a society that is supposed to value human rights and fair treatment?
Drumhead was a new site-specific production from Rhymes with Purple: a social and political commentary on humanitys relationship with itself.
With particular focus on the ramifications of legalised torture methods, experimental performance workshops led the creative process as well as providing the cast with a real understanding of both the authority and victim.
The audience were removed from their comfort zone and presented with a piece of interactive theatre. Reports, real case studies and events informed the actors presentation of this challenging and controversial subject.
"Represents a serious exploration of the morality behind what may or may not be justified during times of conflict". The Herald
"The strength of the play lies in its exposure of a Guantanamo-era society that sanctions interrogation methods akin to medieval witch-hunting". The Scotsman

"RWP's approach is cool, even neutral: the monstrosity is performed, the audience are merely offered the spectacle, then left to decide on the morality. It's harsh and immediate, and a terse commentary on the human reality behind the headlines." The Skinny
