It’s probably not acceptable for a review to simply take the form of OMG! This show is amazing... go see it! But that’s probably the most concise way to present Pants Down Circus as they’ve certainly created a show that fits that description.
Pants Down Circus is by far the most original, funny and exciting circus show on the Fringe this year. This independent circus troupe from Melbourne, Australia have shipped themselves to Edinburgh and I, for one, am very glad they did.
This show is the perfect blend of circus skills, comedy, music and thrills; the two boys and two girls who make up the cast all have distinct onstage personalities and incredible abilities. There’s acrobalance, juggling, acrobatics, contortion, the most amazing trapeze routine and a couple of things that I don’t know the name of and can’t begin to describe. Gags are set up and revisited throughout the show with excellent payoffs.
However, the real delight for me apart from the incredible circus performances was the music. Pants Down Circus have truly delivered the title of the show which is performed to a soundtrack of classic rock tracks.
Do go see Pants Down Circus. It’s the most rocking circus show on the Fringe.
