ATOMIC TALES is a 60-minute, solo drama performed by Italian actor-director Elena Arvigo. It takes an event everyone “knows” from the headlines and turns it back into a human voice. Arvigo speaks as Lyudmila, the wife of a firefighter sent into the disaster, and the story unfolds as love story, requiem, and moral reckoning. The text draws from Voices from Chernobyl by Nobel Prize winning writer Svetlana Alexievich, shaping testimony into a single, searing perspective (recently used as a basis for HBO’s Chernobyl miniseries)
The original Italian work (I monologhi dell’atomica) won thePremio Le Maschere del Teatro Italiano 2023 for Best Monologue.
